I'm about half way through Chapter 9. I know, it's been ages. Aggh! Things have just been a little hectic over the past couple of months. I had the OU End of Course Assignment to complete in May, plus there was some sad news about my dog. In June, I was busy updating some sites that needed work on, so I'd not had time to do much writing. The last couple of weeks I was on a course. (which is not really a course, and I didn't want to go on it, but I had no choice.) I should have Chapter 9 ready to be posted Friday next week. Thanks for your patience.

Brief History

Flik Sivrak is the oldest son of Mizet and Raqak Sivrak, a Jedi Master. Mizet is the daughter of the owner of the Uvena System’s leading ship engineering company. Mizet has an on going relationship with Raqak after he rescued her from the clutches of a crime lord trying to extort money from her father. This relationship results in her getting pregnant.

After giving birth to Flik and his twin sister, Lyet, Mizet sends Flik to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant so that he could be tested to be a Jedi, while keeping her daughter to bring up herself. Because of her father’s business connections and her interest in politics, Mizet later becomes the Senator for the Uvena System about ten years after Flik and Lyet’s birth. A combination of her father’s business connections and her skill in politics are the only thing that keeps her relationship with Raqak from becoming a scandal when she is pregnant a second time, with Lak and Tagg. Seeing that the political climate was changing, rather than let Lak and Tagg be trained as Jedi, she sends them away as infants to be brought up by a non-force sensitive cousin of Raqak’s who shared his family name.

While growing up, Flik does have contact with his mother and twin, but because of the Order’s non-attachment rule, this is kept to a minimum and it is the reason why that, even though Mizet sent her son to be brought up by his father, Raqak is not the Jedi Master that trains him.

He gains the rank of Jedi Knight after his conduct at the Battle of Geonosis.

He survived the Jedi Purge because in the early days of the Clone Wars he was banished from the Order (or chose to leave?) after falling in love with the Shistavanen singer, Auoura. After the deaths of Auoura and his son Tek, Flik became a Bounty Hunter, before finally joining the Rebel Alliance and leading a squadron called the Ackley.

Personality

Like most Shistavanens, Flik is a natural hunter and tracker, and relies as much on his instincts as well as the information he gets from the Force. The His biggest conflict with the Order is that of non-attachment – with other Jedi aside from his father and Master, that rule is not much of a problem for him, but he is still influenced by the events that happen to his mother and sister. Although he does have an attachment to family, Flik also has a an independent streak that means he likes to solve his problems on his own, even if it means he’s unwilling to accept the help of others. He doesn’t like to see others in difficulty and has a strong sense of justice.

Additional notes: All Shistavanens have keen senses, which include sharper hearing, a sharper sense of smell and better night vision than that of most humans. They also have a minor healing ability which lets them heal minor wounds quickly and more serious ones over a few days, and have the stamina to run at high speed over long distances.
